What You Should Know - Difference Between 300mbps & 1200mbps

Mbps refers to the maximum bandwidth rate that the router is able to transmit i.e the amount of data that it can handle at any one time. It is not be be confused with internet speed since your internet speed is determined by your service provider (ISP) at the point that it enters your property.

So the higher the mbps the more data that can pass through it at any one time. This is important particularly if there are lots of devices using the wifi network. 

If you find that internet slows down when another device connects to the network, it's possibly due to the network struggling to cope with the data demand.
